The Menstruum – the Sinister aspect implicit within the ‘homogenous metallic water’: the explosive factor in the delicate balancing of lifeenhancing elements. Change by adversity – the ‘Accuser’. The brutal realities that threaten to devour the abstract, the romantic. Insight and control via the understanding of the Primal – or destruction by it.
Another starless night in the dark, frozen woods. Snow is pouring down from the heaven and glues itself to the trees. The falling flakes are unusually big, covering our footsteps in a matter of minutes and clothes are weighted by both this constant accumulation and the obvious melting that happens over time. The whole land is undisturbed, asleep, be it for the lamentations of the wind and the echo of our steps. Upon reaching the center of the forest, I freed myself from my coat and shirt, preparing my ritualistic tools.
- Crystal Tetrahedron.
- Azoth picture.
- Katana or weapon(s) associated to martial discipline.
- The sinister tradition book.
- Hunting Knife.
- Azoth Sigil.
This ‘ritual’ is as simple as it gets. Take your crystal quartz tetrahedron and start breathing as quick as you can with your eyes closed. Focus on the sigil of Azoth that you took hours to create and imbued with your personal interpretation of hardship, Pathei Mathos (πάθει μάθος), and torment. At some point, you will experience over oxygenation and will feel both numb and serene at the same time. Because of your rapid breathing technique, your body will also generate heath so you will not suffer from hypothermia too quickly. Put your crystal quartz at your feet and take your sinister tradition book along with your hunting knife. Read the Azoth poem three times, focusing on every words intensively and on your weapon that lies somewhat buried at your feet. When ready mutilate your forearm violently with the hunting knife and corrupt the snow that is around you with your crimson fluid. Then, use the knife to pin the Azoth picture to a tree and start a rapid meditation while bleeding. What you shall see or realize, concerns only you. When ready or exhausted, collect your sacred tools and leave the area. Go clean yourself, eat and rest but do not forget to keep your journal close for you may want to write down what you will experience while dreaming.
While short, the aim of this ritual is pluriform; At first it awakens what could be termed as δύναμις. a Greek word that mirrors to “Ga Wath Am” or in more philosophical terms; “The will to power”. Then, upon mutilating the flesh comes the anguish of ἀσθένεια, that is, the desire of strength that is constantly shadowed by the frailty of the human condition. The perpetual return to illness, fatigue and ultimately, becoming old and fragile. In the last part of the meditation, the violence of these dualistic perspectives are annihilated. With great serenity, the practitioner is reminded of the unity of the κόσμος and the false dichotomy that endure in a dualist perspective. Slowly afterward, the occultist is imbued with the sentiment that he simply “is” which in itself, is the greatest ritual of all. Upon accepting the limits of language, philosophy and the causal tools we use daily to experience this realm, the practitioner becomes freed and truly antinomian. This is so because his spiritual path is not a conscious or unconscious emulation of some “ism” anymore, apart from Pathei Mathos itself. Thus, at this point, the occultist simply fluctuates between opposites without trying to define them philosophically or morally. That is, the rebirth of personality through alchemical changes or enantiodromia (ἐναντιοδρομίας).
“Enantiodromia. Literally, “running counter to,” referring to the emergence of the unconscious opposite in the course of time. This characteristic phenomenon practically always occurs when an extreme, one-sided tendency dominates conscious life; in time an equally powerful counterposition is built up, which first inhibits the conscious performance and subsequently breaks through the conscious control.” -Unknown
