The Lovers Ritual (Karu Samsu)

real 1

The double tetrahedron a nexion created via the union of balancing forces. The sowing of the seed of Change that which may transform and carry evolution beyond the Abyss, and thus beyond ‘self-image’ – or that coerce to create something beyond ‘self.’

Important note: This ritual is extremely adaptable and basic. The practitioner should feel free to create or adapt it to his own methodology.

The day began with a walk in the wood. It was not too cold nor too hot but still teeming with life. Birds and insects seemed to be in a hurry, gathering what they could before the last weeks of autumn. I remember my objective as being very precise and twofold; First, I wanted to perform a thousand axe swings on a fallen dead tree of which I alone seemed to have adopted. Removing my jacket, I performed the effort with great focus and pleasure. Secondly, I wanted to gather some natural ingredients for the upcoming ritual of this evening.

Sacred Tools:

  • Crystal Tetrahedron.
  • Karu Samsu picture.
  • Purple/Red Berries.
  • The sinister tradition book.
  • Karu Samsu Sigil.

This ritual has a very “Chaos Magic” tone to it as the ritual itself is the creation and imbuing of a sigil that focus primarily on the importance of union and the transformation(s) that continuously happens through this union. In that regard, this ritual can be altered significantly for different purposes. The practitioner can celebrate his new relationship, he can visualize his ideal lover or simply focus on his current situation, seeking to alter a few things for the better since Karu Samsu is, in essence, an energy of change and movement…

I started by staring at the painting of Richard Moult presented in the Sinister Tradition book and read the poem of a few times. Then, taking the berries, I pierced them and used the juice to color my sheet and create my own interpretation of Karu Samsu which I decorated with dried roses and dark drawings. Usually, sigils are destroyed after the ritual but I suggest keeping that one as you would for an item that served during an oath. It shall become a monument to your love and union, imbued with powerful emotions that can be useful in future rituals.

The final part of this day-long ritual is a three hours traditional meditation. Candles and your crystal quartz tetrahedron are a necessity. Let your thoughts wander for a while, then force all your attention on your creation and then on precious memories/desires with your new/current/future partner. Do not end the meditation being anxious or ungrateful, you should feel only gratitude, vitality and optimism when blowing your candles. That you decide to share this ritual with your significant other or simply share the sigil or not at all is your choice.
